The Brazilian company Wilson Sons Rebocadores, part of the Wilson Sons group, developed Artificial Intelligence technology for tug operation.

According to the company, the system is being used in the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Vitória and Santos and allows assistance in the decision making process of the company’s boats.

The company’s regional manager, Elisio Dourado, said that “innovation is a strategic issue for companies to remain competitive. We carry out around 60 thousand maneuvers a year and, with the use of Artificial Intelligence, it is possible to make the decision in a more agile way, to move the right tug at the right time”.

The Wilson Sons Rebocadores expects to achieve greater economies with the application of the system in its maneuvers. The innovation began to be developed in September 2018 in the Tuglab by loading a database of 350 thousand maneuvers.
