The number of containers operated by TCP, the company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal, grew by 29% in the first month of 2020, compared to the same period in 2019. The company also achieved a historical record with the handling of 84,601 TEU in January.

Thomas Lima, commercial assistant director of TCP, explains that the numbers are the result of a strong commercial work carried out for the conversion of new cargo, coming from states like São Paulo and Santa Catarina. Among the main products handled in the month, the Terminal registered an increase of 26% in reefer cargo and 18% in consumer goods and electronics.

Lima stated that “the Terminal started the year after the good numbers presented in 2019, when we registered the largest movement in the history of the company. There were 915,242 TEU’s operated from January to December, as a result of the development of customized logistics solutions, with a total focus on the client, with the objective of offering a safe, fast, effective operation and even with the best prices”.

TCP offers the possibility to operate simultaneously up to three of the largest and most modern container ships. “This generates confidence that the cargo arriving at Paranaguá in containers will be operated within the stipulated period and without risk. Another key point is the amount of maritime services offered by the company, since we are the only terminal with all the services for the Asian continent”, says the executive.

The forecast is that the annual movement of the terminal in 2020 will be stimulated above 10%, mainly by the movement of products such as wood, cotton, paper and cellulose, refrigerated cargo and consumer goods and electronics.
