The Port of Barranquilla mobilized more than one million tons in January, representing an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2019.

According to a report by Asoportuaria, this is the highest monthly figure recorded by the Port.

Lucas Ariza, director of Asoportuaria, told Radio Caracol de Colombia that “we highlight this significant increase in tonnage movement because it shows that things have been going well in the city’s port area”.

The executive pointed to the presence of a permanent dredge as one of the reasons for the increased movement of cargo, while more than 100,000 cubic metres of sediment are expected to be removed this 2020.
